Well another gorgeous and cold day at the Asylum. But sadly, not a lot of snow. I wish we could get more and stop global the polar bears.

NEW story

So I have been messing around with stories in my LA class and I came up with one while writing for a prompt. Here is the beginning:

It was the voice that was inside my head. Talking to me again. Telling me, I should be scared of what is to come. Just as it came, it left again, being drowned out by the rain hitting the top of the carriage and streaming down the windows like fresh tears. Where I was going I did not know. All the maid had told me was to put on my Sunday clothes and pack my suitcase. I could see nothing outside now, just fog and the reflection of my lace dress. Before I left I was given a book with no title nor author, a doll that was my mother’s and a small gold pocket-watch.

As we slowed it a stop, it seemed like time had stopped too. It was dark now, and the only light in the carriage was a lamp hanging above, candle inside flickering but not yet going out. I sat like a stone statue, only hearing my breathing. I opened the pocket-watch beside me, 8:30 pm. I stared at it for a minute or two, then closed the lid with a “snap!”

The driver opened the door for me as I was lead out into complete darkness, I could not even see an inch from my face. The only light was a crescent moon glowing like an angels halo in the sky. Then I saw the house in front of me.

As some of my viewers (or all) have noticed you cannot add comments unless you join. Well that has been changed because a viewer of mine told me that she could not comment. So now you can comment freely. Sorry for in inconvenience.

Alice In Wonderland or "Underland"

I just watched Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland for about the 8th time. Most of us, grew up with the Disney 1951 Alice in Wonderland. So as I was watching it I though about a drawing I could do and here is what I have come up with (above) I know you cannot see it very well but the whole thing includes: Alice, Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, The White Rabbit (with pocket watch and waistcoat), Drink Me bottle along with Eat Me cake, Talking Flowers, Tea Party and the Mad Hatter's Hat.

While the credits were scrolling through, I immediately fell in love with the song in the background. It was Avril Lavigne's new song Alice (Underground).  Now I am creating a imovie and will hopefully be posting it soon.

Steve Jobs

As you all know, Steve Jobs died the other day and Apple Co. has lost a great leader. On Apple's homepage this is the quote that is posted (above)

I was not surprised to see that Emilie had posted something on twitter about this loss:

"Something amazing: Passing Apple store & finding myself standing be4 an alter of candles, flowers, letters, & apples w/1 bite missing. iSad."

"Wow. Never thought I'd be sobbing at @ColbertReport . Amidst a barrage of hilarity, a brief & beautiful thank you/goodbye to Steve Jobs."

R.I.P Steve Jobs, we will always remember you

“It gives me strength to have somebody to fight for; I can never fight for myself, but, for others, I can kill.”
― Emilie AutumnThe Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

“I still own my heart, which I know because it hurts so much.”
― Emilie Autumn

“Perfume was first created to mask the stench of foul and offensive odors...
Spices and and bold flavorings were created to mask the taste of putrid and rotting meat...
What then was music created for?
Was it to drown out the voices of others, or the voices within ourselves?
I think I know.”
― Emilie AutumnThe Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

“And falling's just another way to fly.”
― Emilie Autumn

“Why can I never go back to bed? Who's is the voice ringing in my head? Where is the sense in these desperate dreams? Why should I wake when I'm half past dead?”
― Emilie Autumn
“History written in pencil is easily erased, but crayon is forever.”
― Emilie AutumnThe Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

“I feel as though, if I were to extend my hand just a little toward the pool where the ideas ferment, I could grab at the idea and pull it out of the pool and onto the floor where ideas must stand before the jury of the brain. There, it must present itself, still from the pool, and a bit shivery because new ideas are not given a towel to dry off with, towels being reserved for proven theories; new ideas are simply pulled and stood up, and asked to explain themselves - not a very pleasant thing really, which is why so many people go into the room where the pool is. The exercise is exhausting not to mention a bit difficult to watch, if you are at all a sympathetic creature. What was my idea, anyways?”
― Emilie AutumnThe Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

“Simply put, if you are a Wayward Victorian Girl, I'll find you.”

So lately I have been into the band Evanescence. The music is amazing and Amy Lees voice is unrealsisticaly powerful :D The rock band is different from other bands to me, 1. they dress goth or in dark clothing and make-up 2. music style is serious and is straight to the point 3. It's always enjoyable THE GUITAR SOLOS KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!

so I might continue with evanescence so I will be posting another poll to debate on that.

4 o' clock

4 o' clock is a EP that is longer than normal, there is really no way to discribe this album but besides the quote on EA's website. "Emilie gives you unprecedented access beyond the fence and all the way to the front door, launching you into the very heart of the Psych Ward. You'll hear the gate slamming shut behind you, the buzz of hospital lights flickering above your head, and you'll learn the first secret of the Asylum: Whatever you think it is, it's not what you think." So there you have it (not in my own words for a chance) 4 o' clock. Also (now in my own words) the song 4 o' clock is referring to the "devils hour" or the "witching hour", this is when your body is most vulnerable also this is why she says in the song "Why should I wake when I'm half-past dead". It has been said that most deaths happen between 3 and 5 o' clock in the morning, Such as princess Diana; she died at 4 o' clock am. To me, that explains a lot in the song. This album is only available in a download.

The Opheliac Companion

Hello Everyone! I am terribly sorry that I have not been posting in days. So now I am posting regularly once again.

The Opheliac Companion is a music download but this album is not music, it is a behind-the-scenes commentary with Emilie & her Recording Engineer Inkydust. The Opheliac Companion  is more then the commentary, it has interviews, insights, photos and videos. So basically Autumn talkes about her music, the set (Mad Villen Studios), microphones (sorry EA quote "Microphones, more entertaining then it sounds") and much more. This is a great way to learn more about her music and my fellow Plague Rats, if you do not have it of course do to the greatness of technology today it is on YouTube. Just search a The Opheliac Companion: (song of choice). Anyway, this album was newly released in 2010.

P.S I am running out of Albums and trying to think of more things to do so I would LOVE comments.

Opheliac is a word that discribes the character Ophelia from Hamlet. Ophelia goes into a state of madness, and from where Emilie created the word Opheliac to describe her madness or insanity. So Autumn's album Opheliac is about getting out of that madness or as you hear often in the album "sea level, water rising" so to prevent that from happening. Autumn explained herself that she never thought so many people could relate to this album. I guess some can. This album was first released as a EP in 2006 and in that same year in came out as a regular album. In 2009 in was released again as a Deluxe Edition with bonus tracks.

Photos 1 3 and are from 2009, photo 2 is from 2006 and photos 3 and 4 is both albums plus packaging

You Sugar Sits Untouched

Emilie Autumn's Your Sugar Sits Untouched is a "tea time" poetry album. They are all obviously written by her and have numerous meaning to them, this depends on how you interpret the poem. My personal favorite is How To Break A Heart. This was released in 2005

How to break a heart
It is not difficult
Anyone can do it
So could you, if you tried
Just find a light
And switch it off
As easy as blinking
That's what I was taught
When I was too young to ask
By ladies in white nightgowns
In dripping weeds and black ribbons
A girl's best friend is a small handgun
The question was useless
For I could say yes
But you've got to ask my army
And they are not inclined to grant favours just now

Emilie Autumn came out with a album called Enchant. Personally this is much more different than any other album released. It is hard to explain the music but it is all beautiful. I love "What If" and "Juliet" the most. They tell stories that really touch you. This was released in 2001 and only was releasing 3,000 copies of it. There is another Enchant album also by Autumn and it was a debut album of 2002 and was limited edition.

Emilie Autumn Laced Unlaced

The Laced-Unlaced album consists of all instrumental tracks played by Emilie herself. The instruments played included violin, electric violin, harpsichord  guitar and piano. The Laced side of the album is more tradition classical music while the Unlaced side is more hard core electric violin pieces. This album came out in 2007.
